Fictitious Dishes: An Album of Literature’s Most Memorable Meals

This is a project by designer and writer Dinah Fried. This is her first book, it will be published by HarperCollins Publishers in 2014. The book is more like an album of food from different works of literature. Food in literature has been shown vividly from Pride and Prejudice to The Great Gatsby and Alice in Wonderland. I remember craving to have a piece of them, still do. Like when I used to watch Heidi ages ago – I CRAVED for the bread and butter her grandfather would prepare for her. I could not understand how there was so much butter, when Heidi was just a show on Cartoon Network!

There is an image with a passage describing the food from the novel. The images in the book have been characterized in such a way that you feel it’s right from the respective novel, I actually felt I was one of the characters from them.

You can follow her on Instagram. You can get your copy of the book – Fictitious Dishes: An Album of Literature’s Most Memorable Meals!
